The city has won Britain in Bloom 'Best City' a record number of 10 times, and the Scotland in Bloom competition 20 times, and each year since 1968 it has taken the prize for the large city category. Its horticultural prowess is testament to the care and attention Aberdeen takes to its inner city spaces.

As the educational centre of north east Scotland, the city centre's restaurants cover a broad spectrum, from cafes and bistros aimed at those on a budget to the ultimate in fine dining experiences. With a large student population restaurants abound for the cost conscious, but discerning diner. Aberdeen's eateries are an eclectic mix of cultures and tastes, covering the traditional and modern, British and European, Asian and New World, all sitting comfortably side by side.

Aberdeen as a retail centre is second to none and includes the Bon Accord-St.Nicholas Centre and the Mall Trinity. Union Street and George Street are world famous for their excellent shopping, and as you might expect the shops are flanked by countless bars, pubs and restaurants. Whether you are looking for a quick bite whilst taking in all the shops and culture Aberdeen has to offer, or a leisurely 3 course meal to ease you through the afternoon, the city centre can cater for all timescales and tastes.

Aberdeen has an excellent transport network and with a railway connecting it directly to Edinburgh and London, and a central bus station, the city centre's eating places are accessible to those in and around the city and from further afield. Here we feature a selection of some of the city centre's most interesting and top quality restaurants
